I've had this pic hanging around from middle of last year.
Chopped-up bio for the record. X3 : [This is where you can file away disinterestedly. Summary : If they showed up in the show, they'd be the 'villains-of-the-subarc'. Personality : Chie of the two is the levelheaded one, tactiturn and reserved. Imperturbable, he prefers to survey the situation and react accordingly. Although unfailingly polite, he seems distant. He does not favour unnecessary bloodshed, but is ruthless as the case befits. En, on the other hand, is arrogant and brash. Bloodthirsty, he revels in the fight. He enjoys the limelight, and detests figures of authority. Coupled with a devil's disregard for his personal safety, these bold strokes of his character can land him in complicated situations. Fighting style : Both the brothers are skilled in the usual arts - it is where their bloodline ability comes in that requires explanation [a.k.a. I'm lazy.] En - Jiryuuka [no Jutsu] - the Fuukairyuu signature ability. Jiryuuka enables the user to slow down the passing of time in his immediate field. Effect decreases with distance - making its coupled techniques close combat ones of out neccesity. Opponents perceive this effect as that of the user maintaining a hyperspeed in combat, though in reality the user is moving at normal speed, and the opponents at suppressed speed - spectators from a distance would observe this. The slowing down is fair to moderate at best, total suppression is impossible. Jiryuuka is very much a physical combat skill, and most users develop high speed and agility to enhance its use. It has no effect on another Fukairyuu. Weapon - In addition to his jutsu, En's weapon of choice is a claw glove that fits over his right hand. Style - En highly favours physical combat, his speed, strength, stamina and agility are well-honed due to constant training. In battle, he knows no restraint. He favours taijutsu, and rarely uses genjutsu. Chie - Kairyuu - Resulting from experimental manipulation [explained in the obligatory sobstory history], Chie cannot perform Jiryuuka, and has Kairyuu instead as his signature jutsu. Kairyuu is the reversal of time - it is a last ditch jutsu that comes with personal cost yadda yadda. Turning time back in small periods can usually be managed with simple chakra and energy loss, but Kairyuu is at any rate not much of a combat technique and not something Chie cares to use often. Three-second Clairvoyance - is more his combat speciality. As a side effect of the aforementioned experiments, Chie, when deprived of sight, experiences a clairvoyance of three seconds ahead. As long as his vision is obscured, his sight is projected three seconds into the future. [A negative effect is that he loses the first three seconds when he first obscures his vision. So if he closes his eyes and can see nothing, that's a really bad sign... Weapon - When more intense physical combat is required, Chie favours a glass-shard coated cord weighted at both ends, serving rather a garotte-like purpose. Style - Chie prefers not to get his hands dirty. En revels in combat, and Chie is more than happy to let him handle the actual bits. His clairvoyance allows him to avoid attacks rather easily, and he usually only gets physical when he has to. Prefers genjutsu to ninjutsu and taijutsu. History : [blah blah blah.] Though the Fukairyuu's signature Jiryuuka is an ideal combat technique, somewhere along the way the line eventually abandoned the ninja business for a more academic existence as scholars and researchers, preferring to use the Jiryuuka for an extended night of research than to stab people through at their own convenience. As usual, in the times of war and all that, they were usually rather penniless scholars and could do nuts while they were at it, and the line gradually dwindled into decay. In this fashion, Fukairyuu Ishiko was a rather pretty but otherwise unremarkable...ah...waitress [until further notice. Agenda : Thus, not very suprisingly, their agenda is to find their mother. *Ta-dah* Or rather, En wants to find their mother. He fiercely believes that she is still alive, and did not mean to abandon them, and that if only they find her, everything will be alright. Underneath that blood-besplattered exterior, he's really a mother's boy. Awww. Chie has his reservations. He doubts she is still alive, and fears that En will be crushed if they find her and En finds out that the family relationship isn't exactly the childhood rainbow-iro vision he dimly remembers. But he searches for her to appease En, and to fulfil his fillial duty if she were indeed still alive. Relationship with each other : Totally devoted to each other. Chie takes care of En in all aspects, and sometimes seems to exist solely for him. En, though governed by his selfish desires, is fiercely protective of Chie, and adores him even if he won't admit it. X3 And there! That's about it! The abridged version... Extra stuff : So what happened to Ishiki? - That's where the story takes a kick up the ass and starts moving. What's with that bandage around Chie's eyes that's terribly drawn and looks nothing like a bandage? - It's part of his everyday battle/mission gear - blocks his sight to activate his clairvoyance. Also, his eyes bleed when he uses 'Kairyuu', so he might as well avoid the potential mess. What's up with all these ridiculous Japanese names?! Approx. trans : Fukairyuu [ •s‰ñ—¬ ] - [It] does not flow back [referring to the time control of the line - they can suppress it, but cannot make reverse it. Time flows forward only.] Ishiko [ ˆËŽjŽq ] - A lesser-used girl's name, with connotations of child-who-relies-on-history. Ishiki [ ˆÓޝ ] - Consciousness [like a sense of self] Chie [ ’qŒd ] - Wisdom En [ ‰… ] - Hate [resentment] Jiryuuka [ Žž—¬‰º ] - Suppression [slowing down] of timeflow Kairyuu [ ‰ñ—¬ ] - Flow back [reversal of flow] [This jutsu goes against the whole grain of the Fukairyuu code. Time should only flow forward.] ...When it looks funny, that's when I pick the kanji individually and it works only in archaic and/or esoteric ways. edit : Aaaaactually. It seems that when it literally looks funny, that's when the WinXP Japanese support input refuses to be decoded by any language encoding. |

I really like the soft quality of the pic, almost as if there's a thin layer of tissue paper on top of the image. It's bright and soft, yet sharp and clean at the same time. Adding to the " layering" effect is the larger, faded back characters in the top right corner.
Everything about the image itself says " soft", even if the characters are quite firmly there and not soft in any way. After reading the bios I went back up and stared at them for a while... yeah, I can see their personalities in their expressions, though it's muted. En's especially; that little smile promises something we might not like. ^.^;;;
Lovely image... It may be a cop-out, but the effect is still rather nice.
